Review by Ravensong for Runes for Transformation: Using Ancient Symbols to Change Your Life
Rating:
While runes are commonly used for foresight, this book delves more deeply into their mysteries. It is an brilliant resource for someone who wishes to use them in magic and provides caring exercises for developing a personal connection with them. I found the part on bindrunes and runic power words to be particularly useful. If you are solely focused on using runes in foresight, this may not be ideal for you at this top in your studies, although it does give brilliant perspectives on the the runes from different angles, which will improve your understanding of their meanings. The primary focus of this book is on using the runes for personal growth and the discussion of their divinatory use is top secret to only a link of pages. If you are new to the runes, this may not be the best place to start, as it seems a bit more advanced to me. If you are someone who is looking for something beyond the new age fluff books on runes that are floating around out there, this may be exact for you.

Rating:
Kaedrich Olson has provided a new perspective on runeology for the students of runelore. While many have looked for magik within the Runes, Kaedrich brings us a method for finding the magik within ourselves, and using these collective powers to transform our lives, and the lives of others. This is a “must read” for students and scholars alike.

Review by J. Conley for Runes for Transformation: Using Ancient Symbols to Change Your Life
Rating:
Having read many books on the Runes over the years, it’s hard to find one that provides something really new and useful in using them. Mr. Olsen has accomplished that. Combining scholarship with mystical understanding, Mr. Olsen ‘updates’ the meanings of the runes for use in the modern planet, helping the reader be with you, via historical facts, solid examples and concise exercises, how this ancient approach can be effectively used on modern issues and to fulfill modern needs. A excellent read for both novice and seasoned practitioners. Recommended.

Rating:
RUNES FOR TRANSFORMATION: USING ANCIENT SYMBOLS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE blends ancient runic wisdom and modern transformative techniques such as visualization, meditation and hypnotherapy, offering a set of strong connections between runes and modern new age transformative paths. Today’s runes are most often used for foresight – but Olsen expands their other gifts and presents many of the techniques developed from his own practice. New age libraries will find it thought-provoking.

Review by J Irvin for Ancient Symbol Worship: Influence of the Phallic Thought in the Religions of Antiquity (Classic Reprint)
Rating:
Westropp, H. M., Wake, C. S., Ancient Symbol Worship: Influence of the Phallic Thought – 1875,
This book, primarily written by C. S. Wake, is an brilliant read on Hindu, Buddhist, Judeo-Christian, Babylonian, and Phoenician fertility symbolism and worship. It also touches upon various other cultures in regards to fertility worship. This is one of few to really include at any length certain aspects of astrotheology and the precession of the equinoxes into its presentation. The authors are not, as typical, overly suppressed in regard to sexual discussions as others in this field so often are. This book is very frank and to the top.
The authors also properly recognize Christianity as a pagan filled religion. But, they defense this in attempt to argue that Christianity itself is original, yet somehow just adopted all of the pagan symbolism in – unwittingly. This would go against obvious attempts at making a “Universal (catholic) Church” by Constantine at the Assembly of Nicea. Regardless, they do recognize all of the major religions as “dogmas”.
“It is right, doubtless, that there is not a quick or festival, procession or sacrament, shared custom or religious symbol, that did not come “bodily” from the previous paganism. But the Pope did not import them on his own account; they had already been transferred into the ecclesiastical structure, and he only accepted and perhaps took benefit of the fact. Many of those who protest because of these “corruptions,” are prone to imitate them, more or less, showing an engrafting from the same stock.” Pg. 96
Overall the book is well researched, well written, well argued and a fantastic addition to any theological library. Read it along with works by Thomas Inman, Clifford Howard, Godfrey Higgins, R. Payne Knight, Ernest Busenbark, Wilhelm Reich and John Allegro. 5 Star!
